My ideas for a new music magazine

I have named my magazine Beat 'N' Pulse, this is to symbolise that my magazine is about music hence "Beat" and the world "Pulse" is to suggest that it is about life in general, i feel this name looks good, sounds good and symbolises what my magazine is about. My magazine is aimed at an age group ranging between 15-22 years of age, i feel that this group of people are generally into similar things, the magazine will be based on what is new and what is good in the music industry. As well as what is going on around the country e.g gigs, parties and other events that people of this age group may be interested in. I also feel that this age group will contain alot of students and alot of people out of work, this will mean they have more free time on their hands and will be more interested in reading a magazine than someone that is working alot. My magazine will be fun and easy to read i don't want to have long essay like articles in it, this is more likely to put off the target audience than attract them. The type of people that my magazine will mainly be aimed at comes from research done on a website called "UK tribes" this website researched into what young people in the UK enjoy doing and what there lifestyles are like, it is likely that the audience that will enjoy the magazine the most will be male, i think that their is a niche in the market for a male aimed magazine that is all about what they are really interested not just a "lad mag" type magazine i believe my type of magazine would be more attractive to a "Townies" type audience, these sorts of people enjoy nights out clubbing and nights in playing on casual computer games like play playstation move or xbox kinect, their biggest expense rather than clothes is often holidays.




I also think that my magazine might be enjoyed by a "Boy Racer" type group it could include pictures of nice new cars and this type of audience is often interested in what new music they want to blare out of their window. This magazine might also appeal to a "Sports Junkies" audience, this group of people are exercise mad and probably spend hours in the gym with their headphones on, or out on the street jogging listening to their ipod. All these groups have things in common and are a massive market group, i think my magazine will therefore be successful in attracting them. I would probably price my magazine at about £2, this is quite cheap and most of my target audience wont be able to afford expensive magazines so this means that advertising of products that my audience will be interested in is important, it would probably be released every other week because although my target age wont be able to afford to pay for a magazine weekly they will want up to date information about what is new as they want to be "trendy" or up to date with what is hot and what is not.
